Our customer:

An American online retailer of pet food and other pet-related products.

Responsibilities:

• Provide on-call support for all our technology stack including analytics DB.

• Solve level-1 issues and escalate as needed.

• On-call support does not consume a lot of time, so engineers will work on the projects across multiple technologies most of the time.

• On engineering side most of the work will be in EComm stack (Postgres, Terraform, Dynamo, DocumentDB).

Requirements:

We are looking for mid- / senior-level engineers with 5+ years of experience in database field. We don’t expect successful candidate to know everything from our technology stack but he/she should be willing to learn it.

Required skills:

• Higher technical education
• Good English communications skills
• Database engineering experience with SQL Server and/or Postgres. It includes
  • Provisioning and maintaining of database infrastructure
  • Implementing HA/DR/Backup strategies
  • Troubleshooting and performance tuning
• Proficiency with automation. The candidate should be able to automate routine database administration tasks using tools like PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, Python, Bash, etc.
• Proficiency with both, Windows and Linux
• Experience with public Clouds, preferably AWS

Nice to have:

• (Extremely nice to have) - Experience working with Analytical databases – in particular with Vertica and Snowflake.
• Terraform – the candidate will be expected to quickly learn it
• Experience with DynamoDB, DocumentDB, MongoDB and other non-relational database technologies
• Knowledge of AWS Cloud Services (DMS, Kafka, Lambda, ElastiCache, ElasticSearch, etc)
