Responsibilities:

• Design and develop new embedded applications running on Ooma platforms for Customer Premises Equipment (CPE);
• Shepherd new releases into production;
• Maintain the existing codebase;
• Contribute to an Ooma platform refresh effort;
• Work on porting code to new platforms, including system initialization (Busybox-style or systemd);
• Debug existing applications to find and fix bugs;
• Collaborate with other engineers in Sunnyvale and at Ooma’s offshore locations: Russia and India and New Zealand.
• Help to train and support less-senior developers.

Required skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science;
• A few years of experience in software development roles;
• Fluent in "C" programming;
• Experience in shell scripting;
• Experience with Embedded Linux (ARM);
• Must know the tools of the trade: busybox, buildroot, gdb, flash filesystems, NFS mounted root file systems;
• Proven ability to work with cross-compilers and cross-debugging;
• Ability to communicate clearly in spoken and written English;
• Strong problem-solving skills;
• Self-motivated type that can work independently.
