The Consumer Applications Senior Software Engineer is responsible for leading & driving all the aspects of the SDLC, building and maintaining web applications using Java/J2EE and Spring frameworks. As a Senior Software Engineer the candidate will be a strong contributor in the execution of the strategic direction for the company, the success of this position will be measured by the usability, quality, and timeliness of applications delivery. You will participate in architecture, design, and implementation of these applications. The ideal candidate is expected to have proven extensive experience building innovative web applications and strong leadership skills.

In this role, you will…

• Take ownership in E2E delivery of end customer facing web applications.
• Be responsible for design and implementation of web applications.
• Be responsible for working with the configuration management and administration teams to provide accurate build and deployment instructions.
• Be responsible for working with tertiary groups such as Security, Architecture, IT Operations, and QA to ensure quality design, delivery, and adherence to corporate standards.
• Design & develop web service API’s for applications that other dependent systems can consume.
• Ensure application development principles, standards, and best practices are followed for each project.
• Provide support to audit processes and quality management system as required.
• Be able to take the team leader role or to grow into it.
• Deliver new services based on the new architecture, support existing live and high loaded customer facing system.

Must have:

• 5+ years of overall web development experience, preferably secure, scalable web applications using Java, Spring framework
• Experience playing technical/team leader roles or a goal to become one.
• Experience in developing/managing REST API’s to support communication between systems.
• Experience in one or more RDBMS such as Postgres (preferred), Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL.
• An ability to see all the SLDC aspects (not only coding) and drive seamless transition between them.

• Ability to apply visibility and transparency of the team work, and train the team into applying the same.
• Expertise with web architecture, cross-platform integration, and building scalable applications in heterogeneous environments
• Strong experience in Java, Spring, Spring boot microservices, Web services (SOAP, REST)
• Experience with various design patterns and java object-oriented programming concepts
• Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

Desirable

• Solid understanding of agile development principles, careful attention to detail, as well as ability to design solutions for multiple product requirements.
• Understanding of messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ.
• Knowledge of any cloud technologies such as Heroku, AWS, Azure.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with Test-Driven Development and/or Behavior-Driven Development.

• Familiarity in using tools such as JIRA, Git, bitbucket.
• Familiarity with Agile (Scrum/Kanban), Waterfall. Be able to decide on the best approach to enhance delivery.
• Demonstrated teamwork skills with a solid analytical and statistical background.
